Hybrid cats

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So after talking to a few of my closer customer I found that some of them have a real problem with hybrids. The fish in ?? Are Paroon x RTC and Niger x TSN both of which will be here later this week.. I am interested in the opinion of the masses and if you have any actual experience with these two hybrids please share.

Mike, are you asking for feedback on their keeping and care from actual keepers?

If yes, it's been 3 pages and apparently no actual keeper chimed in yet...

What does "a real problem with hybrids" mean?

I was just stating that a few close people to me have a problem with them Bc they are hybrids and I just wanted others feedback and care if they had owned them.

Only a few have owned these great cats that I can see, I hope other buy these guys up so we can track there progression.

I don't know who this close customer is, but I think he must be a pretty smart guy. I see so many beautiful fish out there I see no reason to muddy it up by making them mutts.
I also see no reason for flowerhorns or parrots. What on earth was wrong with the fishes that made them? Not a damn thing. Now, GET OFF OF MY LAWN.

If you dont mind me asking what is your ethnicity and background?

I find nothing wrong with hybrids if they don't have any deformities and handicaps. Look at humans I'm quite sure almost no one is a pure background. An easy one look at Americans sorry to say but you're not 100% in sense of genes since you came from Europe and who knows from which parts. Mixing just happens. But If it's deformed and has major health risks I dont like it.

So should I assume we are talking either ethics reasons or a taste reason?

I'd cautiously agree :)

I am afraid we are talking apples and oranges. There is a natural "mixing" and there is an unnatural "mixing". It is the latter at the heart of this discussion, I think. No one (except for some extremists) has a problem with natural "mixing", be it humans or animals.

The usual practice, I'd suppose. In commercial operations, spawning is often stimulated using a process called hypophysation, where lyophilized extract from pituitary of common carp is injected into the fish. The pituitary extract contains gonadotropic hormones which stimulate gonad maturation and sex steroid production, ultimately promoting reproduction.

Method of induced Breeding : Hypophysation - The technique of breeding the fish by administering pituitary gland extract injection is known as induced breeding or hypophysation. The pituitary gland secrete several hormones of which Gonadotropin is the most important for breeding.

The foregoing is about "naturally" spawning fish.

#####################################################

In producing such "unnatural" fish as hybrids, the Hypophysation is used to get the parents to produce the row and milt, which are then squeezed / harvested from the parents and combined in a lab. The parents die, often quite an inhumane, torturous death.

Hybridizing like that is something I'm not down with, with cichlids its different you don't really need to do that which is why I like cichlid hybrids. After a quick search they sadly use the same method for my favorite fish fam, polypterus. I honestly enjoy how cichlids are hybridized, that

Although I have also heard of a man made chemical you put in the tank to induce breeding that you don't need to kill any thing for lol I bet killing em is cheaper though since all you'd need is a carp vs a manmade chemical
