Why do you think its a hybrid?

Looks like a Honduran Red Point to me (HRP)

HRP are not a variation of convicts. From what I gathered true convicts grow nuchal bumps while HRP's do not. Their faces different also but I suck at describing so I wont even try. Id guess HRP also. Either way he looks good. Im guessing 4"-5"?

Honduran Red Point? Are they just another variation of convicts?

Sort of.. as far as convicts go, there are 4 types in the genus family; Amatitlania nigrofasciata, Amatitlania coatepeque, Amatitlania siquia (HRP), and Amatitlania kanna. All four are types of convicts and their genus according to location and distribution.

Based on a presentation on cryptoheros/amatitlania by Sam Borstien at the ACA convention in July, HRP's are most likely an undescribed species, and not one of the 4 recognized convict types. There is also speculation that there are other undescribed species, particularly the Rio Cabayo Siquia that have entered the hobby recently.
