Before anything, my 75 planted journal is in the general forum, since I want to show that you can have nice fish, and cool plants, but here is a link in this thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?549312-HybridHerp-s-75-gallon-Planted-Monster-Tank/page3

Now, this tank I think is a little more suited for the standard planted person. Its small fish, small shrimp, and just plants galore.

This tank had been set up for a while, but I re-scaped it as I made the dumb decision of letting crypt wendtii grow in a small, dirted high tech tank. It took over, became a mess, so I had to rip it out. Of course, with all those roots and plants, ripping it out also ripped out the entire substrate, which I knew would happen, so I re-scaped and started over, using only a few plants I previously had and have since added more.

This was my main scape idea for this tank. Having a nice long java fern stretching across the background on a piece of wood that created a nice slope. Also love the wood because it allows my inverts to hide underneath since the fish can't get under there from the opening in the back.

Tropica sword, crypt petchii, some petite or micro (I forget) anubias, ammania bonsai, to start the planting off

Fish....also, salvaged 250 MTS from the re-scape....I counted them all as well, that's no estimate. There were more, but I couldn't get them all and I already clearly have more than enough.

Still missing some plants. I want to get a carpet of UG going in here, as well as Blyxa japonica in the background, flame moss on the wood, and some sort of red stem in the hole in the wood near the Red Ludwigia. Of course, these plants also need to grow.

I'm liking this Rotala mexicana Araguaia.

So much ludwigia red, and some mini alternethera reneckii

Amano shrimp

Again

New to me,
Lagarosiphon madagascariensis, I'm more of a dutch/jungle person but this plant is often used in Nature Aquariums and Amano's older scapes. I'll see what it does for me. I wanted Mini Myro in either this tank where this plant is, or in my 75...might move this plant to my 75 and have mini myrio here, or move this plant to that hole in the wood and have myro here, not sure yet. I'll see how it grows.

The one odd colored shrimp from my fire red population in my 5.5 (that tank will get pics and share this journal eventually...once it looks more presentable again)

Need like 6 more of these ember tetras. There used to be a school of 10, but idk what happened :\

I would like 3 more of these espie rasbora. I have sources for these guys though.

2 zebra ottos, may add a third, probably just leave them as two though

Hopefully I can get good growth out of all these plants, add more fish and plants in the spring.
Don't forget to check out my other thread two ;)

How well does the alternethera reineckii grow without co2?

Great setup dude. I'm in the process of setting up a 10g planted invert tank and you have given me some ideas to consider!:headbang2

Do share your plans and ideas man. I need some neocardina's in here (I threw in one oddball from my fire red population that was carrying so we will see if any babies survive from that and how they look).

Yay :D Was waiting for you to respond :P
I gotta add some UG to this setup, as I want a carpet of some sort because, why not? Also, I feel like trying blyxa japonica as a background plant, maybe trying out mini myro, and definitely trying out Rotala sp. 'Pearl'

I just need the weather to warm up so that my order doesn't come to me frozen again T_T

:D Very nice Chris! I'll be looking at the 75 write up next. Just need time for a thorough read. Your setups are certainly something to strive towards. Mine is a mess in comparison
I was wondering how your plants arrived in this awful weather. Were they all able to bounce back?

The plants I planted came fine.
The plants I didn't plant came in as mush cause I guess they froze and thawed while in transit, bursting the cells and killing the plants.

Fun fact, if you burst the cells in a red plant, apparently, the red pigments will leach into the liquid and make for a neon pink colored mess in a bag *sigh*

Don't buy plants when the weather is below 40 degrees...even then be careful.

Looks like the same rules apply as with outdoor gardening, I dont keep spring annuals outside at temps below 45. Which can be a lot of extra work, especially if our hummingbirds arrive early.

The pink water sounds interesting!
