HybridHerps 10 Gallon Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow that's awesome for a phone pic
I don't know the Latin name for the plant in the pot but it looks like a dinosaur/sago palm

Where do you find the mts? Is it something that you just order online?

Well done!! How do you keep your substrate soooooo pristine? And what's that I see growing in a pot next to the tank? Great pics too!!

Well...part of it is that its a newer tank...the other part of it is that amino shrimp are the ultimate destroyers of algae....and combined with ottos and snails, its game over for all algae (if only I could use them in my 75, I'd have no more BBA and some happy, happy shrimp)

I still want that UG though I don't wanna see my nice clean sand :P

The potted plant is a bonsai cycad...that I really should take better care of cause I've never repotted it or anything :S
I'm working on some bonsai japanese maples that I just got...as seeds.....so I'm not expecting anything cool for a few years. Also, despite the aquatic plants going well.....terestrial plants are not my greatest strength lol

Tbh, I forgot where I got my snails at first....I think I bought some from aqua bid/asked for a few at LFS....but the 250 in this tank came from them just breeding for me over time.....I really only needed like 10 but idk what the hell I'd do with the rest...they don't seem to do well in my 75 so I didn't want to toss a ton in there.

250 snails, whoa!! lol

The tank looks great. I hope to do a similar setup soon, in a 10g using dirt also. I'm in the process of mineralizing the soil now and will start a 30g first. It's cool to see what can be done in only a 10g and still look big in pictures tho. I have lots of 10g tanks to experiment with. Your plants look super healthy, too, nice job.

Only major thing of note is that the babies of the weird shrimp consist of a 1:1 ratio of shrimp that look just like the weird shrimp, and shrimp that are fire reds (the weird shrimp came up from a group of fire reds)...so that's always interesting and I've never heard of that kind of shrimp genetics before.

Oh, and my female guppy passed on it seems. I'm thinking of not doing guppies in here and instead focusing on endlers since I seem to do better with those and I know a guy with Japan Blue endlers which I totally want.

Some light trimming occurred as well, I'll take pics tomorrow.

So...I may have neglected to recall that I made a thread for this tank on this forum...whoopsies. Not sure what point I was at last update so I'm just going to re-post the stock list now.

So this tank needed a nice trimming when I came back home to it. Thinking about other fish to add to it, thinking about pygmy cories or rosy loaches for the bottom…waiting on the shrimp population to slowly increase and for the Japan Blue Endlers to start popping babies as well.

This Madagascar plant is doing pretty well, it’s a bit of a weed though. Pretty soon I’ll be cutting it so that I only keep the tops since it grows so fast and does seem to like branching. I hear this stuff is fragile shipping wise though, and that’s a shame since its so nice. I might try the extras in a soon to be started project…or see what they do in my 75 (seems like a bad idea though)

Espie Rasbora hate the camera it seems

I heard mini Myrio is hard, its doing okay for me. Looks a little bleh though but I’ll give it more time to fill in. Its growing though so I’m not worried.

Overall, I’m happy with this tank, but I think I’ll start dosing PPS Pro liquid stuff from Nilcog soon as I saw some pinholes in the older leafs before I started trimming. I also have a few more plants I need more of, such as the Rotala indica, Rotala Butterfly, Rotala Pearl, UG, and the Limnophilia vietnam that I’m trying to grow out for my 75.

Man, I am the worst at keeping a thread about my smaller tank up to date :S

As I said in my other thread, I’m currently rather busy, so throwing a fast update at you all. I have a plan for that right side that I’ll start once I get back from vacation.

(I’ll take a nicer looking FTS one of these days)

(no idea why AR mini doesn’t like me…I think the front of my tank isn’t getting enough light…downfall of the rayII)

(the weird ones are in here, they just blend into everything. Fire red doesn’t blend into anything)
