Think about dogs its almost the same thing.

nowhere near similar, this example always pops up during a hybrid debate. making hybrid fish is more akin to breeding cats with dogs. all dog breeds originate from a single source and just have preferred traits bred into different lines by different breeders through selective breeding, more similar to breeding JD's that have the recessive blue gene to get EBJD fry.

It is in ways, because they are man made. Certain hybrid fish would never exist if man didn't create unnatural conditions. I say it is like dogs, because all the domestic dog breeds wouldn't exist if man didn't create them. I think cichlid species are more closely related then cats and dogs. That is why they CAN be hybrids. No way could you ever breed a cat and a dog.
