they do but atf are better lolyea dude go for Hydrolycus scomberoides, this fish kill ass...

Hi bro how is your Payara! the difference in the 2 is the second one you mentioned has red fins and is more aggressive from what i have heard and reasearched! I have a school of 5 in the 6 inch range and they are all eating convicts and mollys, its getting costly but i love these fish! They have show no aggression at all with each other or with a huge 14 inch black ghost knife that cruises the tank at night, they just stay out of his way totally! unless they go for the kill they show no aggression towards feeders either! I think an ATF would pick on them they seem fragile and just like to hang out under vines!
The payara now stays in a corner of the tank, hanging out behind a driftwood. The atf showed some agression initially, but now he seems ok with the payara. Bought some feeders, but the payara hasn't eaten yet. Gonna observe for a few more days, if he doesn't eat, then i'm gonna seperate the payara. Maybe he has problems hunting cause of his eyes or maybe he hasn't adjusted yet. Really like the payara, love the fangs even more. Pity haven't seen him feed yet. Waiting patiently for my lfs to bring in the one u have, like to keep a few different species of the payara. They only have the scomberoides.
I wanted to add payara with my ATF's & tarpons but Wes from Rare Fish suggested I wait. He had all three in a 60g at the store but had to seperate the payara because they were getting harrassed.
I guess it'd be ok if the payara were to be bigger than the atf. Atf's tend to be more aggresive in comparison to the payara.
The atf is more territorial, as long as the payara doesn't go to his side, the atf will leave the payara alone. Juz fed them yesterday, baby red sh feeders. Didn't see the payara feed. Juz checked, the payara's still skinny. .. givin it some more time, as there as still some more feeders left.
good luck, what all u got in there, from what u have heard and seen is that if u have the atf in a school there not as aggressive. ya i know there alot so what u do is get bala sharks, tarpon and stuff like that that are shinny like a atf, thats what i did and what others have done, seem like the atf will fall for it and think he is in a school. good luck and keep us posted. if u got the money get a school of atf thhat would be sweet
