oops.. I thought you were talking about true parrots at first, chocolates get too big for the original footprint posted but it looks like you've figured that out already. Good luck

I've looked into True parrots, but They get pretty "big" too right?

Well, I didnt know chocolates got too big, now I do.
And I've always been told severums shouldnt be kept in anything less than a 55G. :nilly:

Looking for something somewhat peaceful, and yes it will be for the 36x12x24'' it will go in with a shoal of about five corie cats.

I'll look into a festivum..

The only cichlid's I've kept have been convicts, and africans when I was just starting the hobby.
So cichlid keeping is still new to me.

then i think Keyholes and Festivums are going to be your best friends then! moderately large (Festivums 6-8" and Keyholesm 5") will both live just fine with the cory cats.

Scalare angels are also a possibility.

or, look into Laetacara dorsigera or Laetacara curviceps, but are very nice dwarf acaras at about 3" or so.

or, as far as i know, Guianacara are pairing fish, and there are a few species that could do decently, but i recommend going to cichlidae.com forum to find out more about them, it is more of a specialty forum with some very serious cichlid keepers on there, and some have a lot of experience keep Guianacara.

I'm thinking festivums would be easiest to acquire, so I will most likely go for one of them, a long with the shoal of cory cats.
I've read festivums will sometimes go after live plants, so I will probably get a few more artificial java ferns for the aquarium, and possible add some elodea to float at the top because its cheap and I dont mind if the festivum chews on it as I have more then enough to go around coming from my turtle tank.

I do enjoy angels, but I've been thinking about turning my 55G into an angel tank as a Christmas present for my mum, as she's obsessed with angels.:D

Works out great for me because I like 'em too.

I've read Festivums can be mixed with angels, this is correct?

You could do some Herotilapia Multispinosis' (sp?)...Those would get along great and look good. They do not get huge either. I think a Temporalis, and three or four Rainbows would be great for many years in a 75....I wanna see pics either way. :)

I do like the looke of the Multispinosis' very amazing color. I would like a trio of them, but then if two were to pair, the odd number out would most likely get beaten up.

Hmmm.
It's now a toss up between festivum, and Multispinosis.

I'd still like a Temporalis, but I think I'll hold off until i know I can house one properly. I dont want to end up selling it once it outgrows the 55.

Also, quick scaping question.
Are those lark silk plants you can find at walmart/craft store ok to use in an aquarium? I've noticed a lot of them have wire inside, I see people using them but I'm afraid of the wire rusting and leaching into the aquarium.

The fabric will start to break down being submerged in water, then get into your impellers...No silk plants....

In my local Library there is an adult choclate, severum and geo brasiliensis plus two aduilt rainbows in a 72 gallon bow front. They all get along great and the tank seems roomy. Choclates have great personality.

Thanks.
I've always wondered about it.
