Picked up my hystrix Ray pup on Fri and its still hasn't eaten anything, any suggestions? Water is 29° ph 6, ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate 0. Tried bloodworm, lance fish, mussels and hikari sinking carnivore pellets, any advice would be appreciated. Tanks 8ft, 3ft, 3ft.

Try worms, black worms, earth worms, night crawlers cut up. Many rays have a hard time acclimating to food that doesn't move, sometimes even cb hystrix pups. Fatten him/her up then try those options. Once onto more than one food option newer foods can be accepted more easily.

Thanks, she went 3 days without taking food in lfs, its been quarantined there for 4 weeks and was taking food in front of me Friday, bloodworm and lance fish, its definitely lost weight since I bought her home and its my first ever Ray, read so much about them for past six months and I don't know if I'm being slightly paranoid that it's going to get death curl!

Too early to give up but pics would help like he said. If works are ignored then I would be concerned. Cut them up so they are quite small, hystrix pups have itty bitty mouths. Hopefully no tank mates are present, but if their is it might be difficult. Something else to consider is trying while it's getting dark out, if the ray is having trouble settling in the dark might comfort it a bit.

Yeah tank mates are present, 2 oscars, 3 red hooks, 1 geophagus and 1 silver arrowana. Nothings bothering her, they have left her alone completely, attempting feeding her with long tongues and have made sure everything else is fed before feeding Ray.

Doesn't look Hystrix to me mate.
That's irrelevant at this stage though. Night crawlers, garden worms or whatever you may call them where you are. Chop them up, the pup should show interest in them and get feeding. Once it is feeding, offer food three or four times a day. Good luck
