Hystrix Ray pup not eating

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
fish doesnt look to bad from the picture but that is not a true hystrix. I would try to get some live black worms or night crawlers to feed the ray. Is your tank cycled? If it is your nitrate level should not be 0.

Thanks, its a very good and knowledgeable lfs with a wide range of stock, motoro rays are always in there with a few polkadot ones too but opted for hystrix as its a supposedly smaller Ray, hence why it took so long to come.

I would quaranteen her off in a small section of the then you can keep an eye on her in a tank that size it is harder to keep track of what she is eating and she wont get stressed out by your other fish

I'm shooting from the hip here with replies as I should be getting my kids to bed not on mfk lol!
But I would suggest, if you don't do it, keep lights off fr now until it's settled and eating well.
Fish don't need lighting, it's just for our viewing purposes and bright light contributes to stress in new fish, particularly rays

So its a hybrid?
Potamotrygon orbignyi, humerosa,Potamatrygon cf hystrix,Peru hystrix is the catch all names for this type of ray. It's not the true hystrix which originates from Argentina. It will grow fairly big and I have seen them well over 20". Hope you have good luck with your ray.
