I have 2 hystrix, 1 male 1 female... THe male is 3.75" and i have had him for about 2 months.. As some of you may remember i had some issues when i first got him. There was a high level of ammonia in the bag, and after i had him for a week or 2 he started to have some problems. Breathing out of one side, eyes got clowdy and real droopy and stopped eating...etc. He eventually started eating again and now is doing great, eats shrimp and earthworms like crazy and is very active!

My question is his eyes never cleared up, even though he acts completly fine should i do somthing about the clowdy eyes? They do not look like there is a fungus, almost like they are real scratched. ( probably from the ammonia in the shipping bag) I have dosed salt 1-2lbs per 100 gallons a couple of times since i have had him and dosed with prazi pro once. any suggestions?

I have the same issue with one of my pups. I have dosed with salt at 2lbs per 100g
over the last 4 days with temp @ 85. Was trying to get a response from some of the
pros about if I should use binox since the salt doesn't appear to be clearing it.
But never got any responses. I went ahead and picked up some Binox today and going to do a water change and treat anyways to see if it helps. It can't hurt.
GL with yours.

i thought brent had this problem on his leos ... and he put some sort of filter on his sump and it solved it..... if i remember right the disolved metals was to high...

hmmm, i will pm him. that seems strange since i have 2 other rays in there with no problems. but you never know.
I have not been concerned becasue the ammonia was high in the bag, and i thought that ammonia would cause this, but it has been like this for a couple of months.

He was told to use polyfilter which removed the dissolved metals, but I also have some other pups that don't exhibit the cloudy eyes.
I can't really tell if it is a fungus. I can't really see it looking furry but I don't have the best eyes in the world.:(
But I am going to go try the binox, as the salt doesn't seem to be
improving it. The pup is eating very well, so I guess that is a plus.

how long ghave you had him??? it sounds like my situation too.

Bout 18 days or so. But the eye issue just started 4-5 days ago.

hmmm, i have read Brent's thread, and ordered some poly filter, i remember when T1 was braggin about how good it is.

I don' think that is what is wrong here though. anybody else with any ideas? i will try to get a picture of his eyes today or tomorrow.
