Hystrix Stingray from Aquascape.com.. First time keeping a ray

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok, Will do that tonight when I get home. I know switching tanks for the other fish will be stressful but they can handle it fine compared to the ray. They don't swim much and don't seem to even pay attention to him. The P-Bass I got at the same time as the ray. He is still a little shell shocked from shipment.

I would try feeding him some live ghost shrimp if you cant get any blackworms. When I got my Motoro's as babies I had the same problem of not eating worms.

I checked all 3 of the LFS near me. They don't have and can not get them. Of those 3 places one is Petco, other two are self owned. IDK if there are even black worms out side the 1 hour circle from my house. That is just all I checked. Bait stores and pet stores. I can look though if nothing else pittsburgh should have them. That's a three hour drive but like you said he needs them. I agree it is very skinny and for 35 hours I know it has not ate. I'm sure the 14 hour shipping process it didn't eat and maybe even some time before that. He needs food and fast. I was hoping he would be hungry enough to take my earth worms but it doesn't seem to matter to him.

you can order from blackworms direct... a vendor here... they have overnight shipping.... this may be your best bet..... you may even be able to get a hold of them today to receive tomorrow morning. They have a contact number and the owner is usually very good at responding to pm's quickly as he does it on his phone.

Ghost shrimps , blackworms , bloodworms..
These are some of the good starter foods to help a young ray..
As much as the ray is stressed and you are too..
Try to isolate the ray on its own like framcosco mentioned..
I would also use small pieces of cut shrimp to try..
U gotta try all ur options..

Here is what I have tried.. red wigglers, earth worms, a small cube piece of shrimp. None of them seem to work. Someone said blood worms are the same as black worms? Is this true.. I can get frozen blood worms and would that be good or do they need to be live? I did a slight water change today because it was my tanks due day to do the change. Ray isn't moving much but he is moving some. He also only uses one side/gill to breath. the other side he doesn't use unless he moves around much.. is this normal?

I tried ordering the worms from that tag you guys sent. it hangs up every-time I do it. I will order them in the am for sure. I don't know if I can load a video, I have his lights off and it's hard to see. basically this is what's going on.. he has the gill flap on both side of his body. behind it you can see him taking in water kind of like our chest does when we breath. well after he has sat still for a while he stops using the one side. The flap stays closed, and he only uses the one gil side. It seems weird to me
