You are at a total loss regarding your dad's birthday if you ask me.

First, he made you and him seeing you would be excellent but it still doesn't make you a better son because you are still putting your "outfits" ahead of the one day in a year where you can show appreciation for your dad.

I would say return all that you bought and buy him something for his hobby if he has one.
