It'll seem worth it when you'll look back 10 years from now. Screw investing that money, put it into something that'll loose most of it's value as soon as you use it. You'll look beautiful.

really? So you plan to pay for his nursing home? You assume he wants go to one? No parent that I know of would want to go to one let alone have their kids put them in one. I wouldnt ever do that to my parents. If they have a house then let them live in the house the worked hard and paid for.
btw paying for that imo is not really a gift. My dad is really hard to shop for but I get always manage to find something small. A gift card to go out to eat is always appreciated. I live my own too and I live check to check and I always find some amount even if its just $15-20 to get them something and I wouldn't dream of buying myself something instead. Thats terrible.

my dad bought me and my g/f a vacation for his birthday. he's just happy i want to be around . so i bought my self bathing suits.
