I was irked at the number of puffers that people had killed at the Titusville location and left on the rocks. Sure there were way too many puffers there but they don't have to be killed. Killing them to reduce their numbers is like trying to bail out the ocean with a bucket. They should have at least been thrown back in the water so that they could be recycled into the ecosystem.


What also irks me is when pro fishermen on TV keep the fish out of the water without any consern while they chat away. And when they mishandle fish by holding them horizontally by their bottom lip. Those idiots have the responsiblity to educate their viewers how to be responsible with their catch.

I agree with you there =] Honestly that is the first time I ve seen puffers killed like that in titusville. Yah sometimes the guys on the tv need to pay more attention to the fish they are handilng and what they are doing with it. They prob. dont care though b/c they make so much money.

I seriously doubt that snook made it. It was dropped 3 times from a height of about 4 1/2' on to thick metal grate and each time it made a horrible backbreaking thud. Then after being out of the water for about 3-4min it was tossed off the pier from height probably around 15-20' ...... btw gl at fort myers.

I mean I understand that people drop fish by accident but what really annoys me about the two anglers was that there was no concern for the fish. If it were me I would of got that fish back in the water after the first drop with no picture. (but I wouldn't have dropped it, I have a lipper and know how to use it) I know that probably 95% of the anglers out there still have the mentality that a fish is just a fish and fish are just swiming vegetables but its very disturbing the lack of compasion or responsiblity people can have.

i wasnt there to see what these guys were doing but i take pictures of my catches all the time. fish have accidentally been dropped before. tho i dont pass around my catch for other people to pose with and never harm the fish on purpose. they always swim away fine.

Well it's one thing that the fish swims away, another what happens later. After that kind of treatment, I guess it's close to impossible to survive. It's understandable that sometimes it's hard to hold fish steady, especially if it's that big, but HEY! Be CAREFUL, dropping it 3 times, nice one! Interesting how would that ba***** fell if he'd been treated like that. Poor fishy! Also, you can take very good pics when fish is in water, it would be much more better.

Seriously though, when a fish is to be released, you have the moral obligation to care for the fish to the best of your abilities. Your first accident with any fish should be your last, and the photo op. should be over to get the fish back in the water.

I was just getting ready to say this very thing, I'm an avid fisher and have been for 25 of my 31 years, When I'm bass fishing I ALWAYS catch and release (except for the 13lb LMB I caught in TX, she's hanging in my office) and I'm always gentle and careful with the fish because I KNOW it's going back into the water to continue on with life. Once a fish is injured and you release it, it's very likely that it'll either:
A. Become a meal
B. Die

If you're catch & release fishing you should take a little more care in handling the animal, now if you're going to keep and eat it, do with it what you will.

But in the end, people are stupid and careless, people like us are the exception not the rule these days.
