i am begining my rescueing career!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes i called it a career cuase i do programs on exotic animals for the elementary school:) ya i have resqued:
5 sideblotch lizards my friends and neighbours have brough back from camping trips thinking they could live in tiny tanks and eat ants and flies>:()
several praying mantises, i breed them so if your in utah and want a few let me know, that they caught and tried to keep in normal tiny cages(i give mine over 10 gallons each)
and numerous other critters.
i even resqued a dragon goby that my neighbour didnt want anymore cause it only ate brine shrimp.
i dont care if i end up with lots of resques, i just hate it when people dont care for animals or dont know about their needs!!!

Good for you, it is always great to see young people caring about the unwanted critters out there. But a word of warning, I would not think of it as a career. That implies that you can make money at it, in reality it costs money. It is more like a calling and the pay off is much better than money. Keep up the good work.

brilliant way of putting it.

although the other day i had a rescue centre call about my ad which has my snakes up for sale.
they wanted to buy my cheapest normal corn snake??? lol

i was like "well he doesnt need rescuing thanks, if he doesnt sell il happily keep him, and you are only going to sell him for 25 and im selling him for 10"

i appreciate they need to make money for their organisations, but im not selling something that is fine and in a perfectly good home to a rescue place....just doesnt make sense.

I have rescued my ball python from someone who had her never took her out cleaned her cage fed her and she didn't have heat. I rescued my hypo corn person only fed him and were scared to put their hands in the cage. My cat was abandoned so I took it in. My turtle was either I take it or they were going to release him. Took in an electric yellow cichlid because my sister got it from wal mart and of course they mis informed her and it was killing her fish and she was going to flush it. I also take in a lot of stray cats. Taking in animals they people don't want is actually a really great feeling. Like I said good luck to you and your rescues, they seam to be more loving when you save them then if you just buy them I have realized. Also Chloe if I could I really would try and buy some of your corns but I am broke and have no room right now sadly.

What makes it considered a reSCUE?

Are you going to take it to the vet? Treat any health problems it has? Do you have the proper supplements? Tank/cage?

I understand what you are doing but being so young please make sure you have the money to actually get these animals to the vets if needed and make sure they have the proper food and caging.

oh i have everything. and it is malnourished and being kept too cold. also they dont any idea how to care for it or its needs.

i have everything needed and know an exotic pet vet. i am prepared to carae for its needs and can deal with any thing it has

Everything needed... Can you be a bit more specific?

Vits? Ca? how old are they? Prepared to deal with MBD? correct lights?

Who is going to pay the vet bills? Which potentially could amount to a large amount depending on the severity of its malnutrition and lack of light/ heat?

Not trying to bash just trying to offer some help. I see people all the time talking about oh I rescued this or that and then end up treating it no better than before due to lack of fund. People thing when they buy from pet stores that is rescueing. Nope all that is doing is proving to the pet store they can sell it so they get more.

I have no rescues ( although I helped out a box turtle the other day who was promptly returned back to where he was found after he dried), I have no desire to have rescues. < wow did that just make me sounds like a mean person.
