Delgado's right, the fish ran out of oxygen. This is a big fish, and SH literally breath air from the surface (and not only through water absorbtion)...So it took gulps of oxygen until it wan out in the bag, then suffocated. Poor thing.

With SH, always either leave the bag opened, or place an air pump outside of bag with a hose in the bag for air.

Sorry for your loss...

That sux to have a rare fish die like that....

What did you do with the dead fish? If it's big enough,,,, makes good soup.

The search goes on......

I don't even have an aquarium. I just have bags of fish all over my house. Works fine for me.

Perhaps the bag was tied to prevent this huge dude from jumping out from the bag.....SHs this size are super jumpers!

he should have never been in a bag man, 5 gallon bucket with a lid should be the only way they send you home with a fish this big, lessen learned i guess, he was a cool one though, i bet you were freakin when you picked him out!

Well...I've got no access of a bucket anywhere at that time...i was called up midday and was asked to collect this rare gem...when i arrived to collect, it is already bagged....but anyhow, i should have known better....

its never too old to learn any lessons....

next time go to target, get a cheap ass rubermaid bin that will hold the fish. add the water from the bag and a small amount from the tank just so the fish will be able to remain under the water, if enough has been provided in the bag them great if not add a little bit. them tie a knot in a small hose and run a dripline into the bin as a siphon. when the water mixture is 50-50 the fish is ready to go in, this usualy takes no longer than an hour and is a much safer way to keep your fish healthy. typicaly this is a method used for saltwater but i find it works well for fresh when a fish has been in a bag for a long time.

I don't think they have Target in Singapore. I have seen snakeheads kept alive in baskets just covered in soggy water plants, it keeps them wet and allows them air.
