rocky that's strange - when fish are shipped they are bags overnight at least right? And most of them survive, so compared to that 3 hours is not a long time at all.

What do you think?

I am guessing the bag wasn't oxgyenated. That fish is massive and fish at that size don't do well in a small bag even if its only a few hours. I put fish in a bucket or bag thats oxygenated for 16 hours + and never had such problem.

Hi bros..sistas...

Last night was really a painful time for me....for the longest time, I was searching for a short body monster giant Snake Head and finally I found ONE!!

BUT! I went home, wanted to put this big bugger into one of my giant tank and found it belly up! I really kicked myself as I think the death of this monster beauty was that it was in the fish bag (a little to small for it anyway) for too long! This fish was bought from a Snake Head farm and it was not packed in its proper bag.

But thinking SH are tough buggers, I sort of let it dwell in that bag for about 3 hrs and already its dead!!!

Here are some pics, just for the remembrance of this rare Short Body giant:

I feel like jumping anytime now.... :( DO NOT LEAVE FISHES IN FISH BAGS TOO LONG...EVEN IF THEY ARE MONSTERS!

smooth. reel smooth

Sorry for your loss, good luck finding another one.

The short body is not only cool, but more practical for an aquarium.
Much easier to house a 2 foot fish than a 3 foot one.

did you do a post-mortem? the stomach looks bulging.

i remember when this happened, very sad.
