I am overstocked What about you ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Seriously that is really crazy. I can't believe you have that much that's just insane. I mean too much to the point that it's mind of unattractive.

I am over stocked too, but Mbuna like it that way. I have
5 full grown yellow labs
4 juvie yellow labs
2 full grown demasoni
8 demasoni juvies
2 full grown pearl mutts
3 pearl mutt fry
4 red zebras
1 full grown maingano
1 full grown kenyi

That's 30 fish in a 75g. They all get along great there is aggression every now and then. They breed all the time. This month I had the demasoni, a lab, red zebra, and kenyi hold fry.

I feel bad for the OP's fish, as well as his potential dogs/cats/children who are undoubtedly also mistreated

I hope this doesn't start that ridiculous JDM trend again... if you did that with reptiles people would flame you to tears... why it's acceptable with fish is beyond me

+1

OP, I think you answered you own question. You can't keep your nitrates in check because you are overstocked. One of the easiest ways to keep your nitrates in check (although this is rarely ever practiced) is to understock. I guarantee you will have healthier fish and the hobby will be more enjoyable (as opposed to a constant battle to keep your water parameters in check).

It really seems like you and others are bragging about overstocking, which isn't really something anyone should aspire to.

And I dont' think I was being harsh by nominating that tank full of bass for UTOTM. It seriously looks like a fish market tank (JDM), not something that would be enjoyable to look at unless you like seeing fish that can't swim without bumping into their cell mates.
