i have a 20 gallon with two golden mystery snails that i love very much.. well i was looking up good tank mates for them and found aquatic frogs are perfect! soo i go to my retarded lfs store to buy a few and they were selling african clawed frogs under the name african dwarf frogs.. ahhh grrrr:nilly: well i come home and put them in the tank and start doing some research.. come to find out they get huge and eat ANYTHING that comes near them!! NOT the same as a dwarf frog, which stay tiny and arent aggressive. this is the TENTH time at least they have screwed me up with horribly wrong labeling, sexing ect. one has already accidentally (while psychotically trying to scarf whatever) injured my snail and its pouting in its shell :( im taking them back tomorrow morning with a few choice words they wont like.. its a real shame since i have children that will be upset with them being returned (hopefully i can find another store with the RIGHT FROGS!!!!)

^ I completely understand your frustration, been in the same boat in the past... but at the same time, this is why its so very important for us to know exactly what we're looking for and what it looks like...

I've run into similar problems when i first started in the hobby with fish... since then its always been research before i shop, and if in doubt, time to pull out the smart phone and search the net for answers, since most shops in this town have no clue about their stock, except for a select few LFS' that i visit the most which tend to give good info, and if they don't know, they tell you they don't know...

Anyway, best of luck with the return and hopefully you'll find what your looking for this time around...

thanx i was starting to think i was alone on this subject lol i wish i had a smart phone but i have a dumb phone haha.. i have decided to look up every lfs in decent range to see if they have the right frogs, so hopefully this will help me find a better store :/ i dont know anyone who has any experience with fish who could tell me what store is best :( i actually got two of my friends to start tanks so they come to me for all the questions eeek lol thank u and use that smart phone to teach these dang store workers some knowledge!! haha

don't blame others for your own mistakes. You are responsible for buying those frogs. You didn't even know how exactly those animals look...
excuse me smarty pants but ur rude number one, second i DID look up the frog first, THEY labelled the whole tank wrong... sooo um SHUT IT

^^ THIS GUY..

I think what he was trying to say was you need to look at the pet more closely rather than just the label. In the fish hobby in general you shouldn't be relying on the label especially not at chain pet stores, they don't expect you to be able to keep alive the 1/4 inch pacu till hes 40 lbs, the ID shark till hes 2 ft long etc.... no different with frogs. they expect poor care and painful deaths from inexperienced keepers or parents who want their kids to "learn responsibility"

This has happened to all hobbyists ... from expert to novice ...

i agree thank u.. he was just rude lol hence my signature :P the frogs r totally fine i have only had them one day rofl.. no need for a "telling off" this site is for advice (which im getting from u at least) not smarty pants trying to be nasty ugh get real.. thank u for an educated understanding of knowing everyone makes mistakes (even the store) these frogs r tiny and my first action wasnt to look for little webs on their front feet lol until i got home and researched for an hour and found there were two types of aquatic frogs.. at least when i get a pet home i make sure i learn about their care.. gimme some credit right? man if i worked in a fish store i would buy a smart phone just to give the right advice rofl!!!

yeah, dwarfs and clawed frogs look nothing alike, except for maybe the fact that they are both frogs.
you wouldnt trust a label that reads platy on a tank that is clearly full of oscars.

"oh this tag says platys! I'll buy 10! They will do great in my tank!"

research research research.

Ive had issues such as this more then id like to admit, but one thing ive learned is now that SMARTPHONES are everywhere, its a different world.. If i find something i like and im unsure of it, i research it in the store on the spot..Ive already been able to "correct" some salesman on the spot from mislabeling, and or ignorently "assuring" me they know what they are doing.. Im not the "fish master" nor do i EVER claim to be, but i think it is just plain ignorant to sell someone something they dont need, then lie about it to reasure them its a good buy, and lie about it when u bring it back and im done getting walked over.. so yeah, if ur a smartphone user, try theis next time. google image, and so much more is there to help u make things right.
