I'm glad you mentioned this. The 55 where he is now has a heavy wood canopy and one of those 4x65 Coralife light fixtures, but in the back near the filter it's only covered by an unsecured plastic piece (like what clips onto the glass tops on smaller tanks). I need to secure it a lot better. He might not be big enough to dislodge it now but I don't want to risk it, and he would be for sure pretty soon.Red Devil;1752825;1752825 said:Thats a beautiful little itty bitty..so cute! make sure you cover every single solitary opening on top... no matter how insignificant..tape it up..they jump and they always find the space that is open..then remenber later to weigh down the top with something heavy..
congrats and good luck. any tankmates until they're at least 8 inches can be a risk
yes and just tape up those little tiny openings with masking tape.. good luck with your baby.. he may not eat right away..take any uneaten floating food out and try again later...try some frozen blood worms from an eye dropper and try and squeeze out in front of his face..i doubt he will eat pellets this young..DaveB;1753011; said:I'm glad you mentioned this. I just fed them some pellets and he seemed a little scared. I hope it's just because he's new still... most of my new fish don't eat for a day or so.
Even just peaceful fish like rainbows, tetras, and l. curviceps? I have a 10g that he could have to himself for a little while if that would be better. I wouldn't think anyone in this 55 would give him a hard time though. The only aggression this tank ever sees is just a bit of conspecific aggression with a couple barbs, and they're not top swimmers anyway.
