Drove me mad I thought I was going to lose him. Thanks to everyone at MFK for helping me get through it.DaveB;1755865;1755865 said:A month? At that size? Wow. I'm not sure I could handle waiting a month for this guy to eat, I'd be freaking out.
Congratulations on him eating , now he will eat alot.DaveB;1769308;1769308 said:He ate!
I was a little worried, not so much about the lack of appetite - since it was mentioned that the baby went a month without eating - but more because he seemed a little stressed out and I remember that in the store he was swimming happily in an overcrowded tank. I think my two gouramis might scare him a bit.
Anyway, tonight I fed a bunch of frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp and a bit of krill. The others chased all the sinking pieces and that left a few floating bits of bloodworm to drift over to him, which he happily scooped up. This seems to have inspired him, because then he descended to get a few flakes of shrimp, and then he started snacking on the hikari pellets I had been feeding all along that he hadn't touched. They're the smallest pellet but might still be a bit too large for him... he can't close his mouth all the way and ends up spitting them out. He seems to prefer my dried krill pellets, which I can crumble up to smaller pieces. Only problem is that they sink very quickly so he misses them a lot.
So in the span of thirty seconds he went from scared and boring to energized and very entertaining. I'm very excited. Now the growth spurt can begin!
I put a background on the tank, as I've seen people mention that having dark backgrounds can help bring out their colors more. Probably too early for anything like that but I like the way it looks anyway. Do they really bring out their colors more or is that just sort of an unproven opinion?
