Hey everyone. I can't believe what happened to my silver aro today. Ever since I've had him/her, he has been in great health. He's in my tank with a jardini that I got at the same time. I had him since he was 6 inches long and now he's 23 inches. There's also a pleco and 2 oscars. Anyways, I noticed yesterday, he didn't eat. I went out to do some errands today and when I came home, he was head down on the gravel and his tale was floating straight up. He was dead! I don't know what happened. He was eating well until yesterday and then he all of a sudden dies today. I know it wasn't my jardini because I've NEVER had a problem with them fighting. Also, you can see from my pictures that there isn't a scratch on him. Gills were bright pink, eyes were clear, no marks on its body and fins are all perfect. DAMN!!!

Do you feed tail on shimp?

All the fish in the tank get, Hikari Sticks, Hikari Cichlid Pellets, and Shrimp Pellets. I have never fed them feeders, or raw meat or raw seafood.

It was heartbreaking when I had to reach in to retrieve his body. You really don't know how big and beautiful a fish is until you hold it in your hands. It was such a shame to put him in a plastic bag and dump him in the garbage. I was thinking of freezing him but I don't know to do next. The Doctor.

All animals have the possibility of developing blood clots which lead to strokes and have the possiblity of having heart attacks. I seriously doubt this would be the culprit though as you were feeding no fatty foods, just high quality, high protien, low fat prepared foods...

Did the temp dropped at all ? were there any stray voltage ? how are other tankmates ?
