I.D hybrid

No, no tiny spots. Looking for good metallic blue and green coverage. Wanting to improve slightly on the Galaxies pictured, which are likely cyano x dempsey. They could use better spangling, IMO. That's why I went with a fish that should generally carry genes for larger colorful spots. Personal preference.

Your fish is amazingly beautiful, reminds me of a paratilapia sp.

I honestly hate Jack Dempseys and hybrid Jack Dempseys so no I wouldn't. I also don't have any Flowerhorn anymore not that I would ever use Dempseys in a Flowerhorn cross. I am interested to see the cross being that they are hybrids but I wouldn't keep any myself.

I know for a fact that the cichlids that cris sold me have jd in them. They have a red fin just like a jd.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother spawning that dark, tiny-spotted thing with anything. Always start with beautiful fish if you want to get beautiful offspring!

Aren't Carpintis a type of Texas Cichlid? I don't see why that wouldn't produce the same result. Carpintis is the prettier one, anyway. I'd rather have used an Escondido. Haven't seen any around.

There is Herichthys Carpintis and Herichthys Cyanoguttatus which are two separate species. Escondido is a strain of Carpintis and looks really nice.

Wife would kill me for the cost of the shipping... Need a good 3" or bigger female anyway.

Local store here in Eugene had a female Cyano about 6-7" who was really nice looking but its a bit of a drive from Washington.

Um no? The Red Texas that Chris has have no Jack Dempsey in them. What make you say you know for a fact?

I hope to breed yours with mine. Then with a red texas lol. Wouldn't that be cool....

Reason is the 15 fish I recieved from him 5 of them look like straight jd . They have a red top fin and they have a blue beard On one I can tell its a female. Dont hate cichlids embrace them.

I don't hate cichlids I study them and enjoy them (except Jack Dempsey). You might have received an oddball fish but there is absolutely no Jack Dempsey in Red Texas and certainly not Chris's. Jack Dempsey is not used in any high profile hybrid, they have too many bad traits. The Red Texas you got just had a lot of pearling on the face, doesn't mean anything other than it has a lot of pearling on the face. Its merely a coincidence that it was a female. And as far as the red on the dorsal, many cichlids have this trait including Carpintis. Hell my Vieja Argentea has red on the dorsal so that must mean it has Jack Dempsey in it too. Thats like saying a fish has Convict in it because it shows black barring sometimes.

Notice the red on the dorsal on this Carpintis

I know you like to argue but these fish definately have jd in them

Sorry I forgot you were an expert on Red Texas, yet you ask so many questions about them. My Argentea has Jack Dempsey in it too but I don't want to argue about it.
