What about this guy? His colors are off the hook.

Wow so many varient's but I do like this one the most. Why do some of these piquiti look Pinima-ish? Especially some of them in the same local.

.. personally i don't believe this fish is an azul but i guess it can possibly be a variant.. these fish all look alike an hold dramatically different characteristics then a piquiti. i guess the i.d. is in the eye of the beholder i say add another species to the list

Ok, fine.....it's new official name is Cichla boosteni. I named it that based on your reluctance to accept that it really is C. piquiti....just a gold variant

That was a joke. As stated, the fish in question are "golden" azuls.

Through the various stages of an Azuls growth it will take on different coloration's that is dependent on mood, environment, lighting etc..

A different variant or just a picture taken of a fish in different points of it's growth...LOL

Here's one of my Azuls that went from 3" to 18-19"..
