I would have put it out of its misory the second i found it in there with a third of its body missing. If it was just ripped up i wouldnt. But that tore apart it would be the humane thing to do. Plus leaving a fish in a tank " letting in die in peice " with other fish in there is terrible for the water paramiters. A gourami will allways get ripped apart by cichlids. At least c.a cichlids.

Stop buying aggressive fish, and then say your shocked when they are aggressive. Furthermore, don't buy way less aggressive fishes as playmates for your aggressives,

Stop eating Popeyes, and research your fish better. You caused this nightmare.

I don't believe I said I was shocked my aggressive fish are aggressive, so stop making things up and basing your opinion off of it. I bought the fish because I saw it work very well in my lfs, and then saw a lot of people keep kissing gourami with cichlids online. My jack has not been aggressive in 6 months, and lives with smaller fish than the gourami, that is why it suprised me he was able to take such a big bite out of the fish, yet leaves others alone.

I will not stop eating popeyes as it is delicious.

You: stop posting your opinion in other people threads unless they ask for it, I asked if I should put the fish down or let it live, not for you to make up a scenario in your head and base an opinion off it.

It should be illegal for you to quote sublime like that- it doesn't even make sense in the terms you added it. lol.

Butttttttt...

If you euth it, 10 drops of clove oil is used to euth large koi in a 5 gallon container.. you would use a lot less with this little guy, and you could probably use a disposable cup. I would not add it directly in the tank- It not only smells horrible, but it's a pain to get completely put of a tank.

I know that koi often grow their fins/tails back. Maybe you will get lucky, and the little guy will pull through. But I would imagine he WAS in some sort of pain, and it probably numbed to it by now.

I am gonna keep this guy, the wound is healing over. He has been free swimming for awhile now, and walks across the bottom with its fins, and can get to the surface for food and air.

And I think What I Got was used well :P. I'm only gonna respond to anything on here with love anymore since it seems like the negative and worthless comment contribution trend isn't going away anytime soon.

Got pics of the belly-dragger? You'll want him on barebottom or perhaps very fine sand to prevent tissue damage when he crawls. Glad he pulled through and since kissing gouramies get a foot long and live such long lives, I am happy to hear you were able to save it. But you'll most likely want to keep it alone in something like a 30 gallon tank possibly for the rest of its life. Is it pooping and everything? All the organs are intact?

right now its in a 10g with fine black sand substrate (10g I had lying around, will get it another), I havent witnessed it poop but it definitely has, as I've seen it on the sand. I dont have any pics of it since when it was in the net, but will take some tonight If I remember, I got a lot of snow still to shovel at my house.

Edit: I really have no idea on the organs, since I didnt see the attack and the part bit off was eaten. I do think its swim bladder was damaged since its stays at the bottom and doesnt float around, but then again it does stay upright instead of laying on its side so i don't know.
