nothing deserves to die that way......for entertainment purposes. that's all it was.. that retard wasn't trying to feed his fish, he was trying to torture the GT and document it to show on you tube..

there is also a vid of an aro being eaten by piranhas.

it's clear they are not using them for food, but just torturing them. very grimey IMO.

Exactamundo, its got nothing to do with whether or not the GTwas too pretty to be eaten, feeders, goldfish, oinky mice or crickets or what someone chooses to feed their fish.

this thread will be closed do to people starting to get angry. Look guys, we have gone over this 1000 times before. Some of u find it cruel. But Y does the gt have any more value than a goldfish? To me and many others on here, a feeder is a feeder. I tend to feed smaller stuff but if it was a small gt i still would feed it to my fish. Any fish can be a feeder to the right fish. Just breaks down to what u want to feed urs and how much u want to spend. I feed my gars exculsivly on live. Is that cruel??
Now he shouldnt use a fish this large to feed because it is a little bit of torture.

The problem here is not just a fish being torn to bits by other fish, but people also put value on certain fish. I for one, feel that a fish is a fish regardless of price. They are all "Feeders" regardless of species. Some people think that because it's a more than a dollar, that the fish is worth living and not a feeder. There are many different views on this and I don't agree that because it was a GT, it would be more cruel than a large Goldfish.
i completely agree
ive also noticed, that some anti feeder people use the argument, that even though fish eat fish in the wild, that it is cruel to feed live in captivity, as fish keepers, i thought our aim was to make our animals feel as comfortable as possible, which to me means, doing my best to replicate the fishes life in the wild, sure, there is a huge difference from the wild to a glass box, no matter how big the tank is, but i still to make the fish feel at home, and that means live food; guppies, convicts, african dwarf frogs, are all things i have used as feeders in the past few months. my fish seem happier and show more natural behavior when i feed live.
i do not however, agree with feeding live purely for entertainment, do i enjoy watching my fish hunt?, yes but is that the reason i feed live? no

i agree with you. thing is the folks that are against it get all emotional and mushy and end up saying stupid things that get the thread closed. it always goes down like that. this thread will be no different. just give it some time :)

It is cruel, but there will always be a certain faction of fishkeepers who are into the voyeuristic predation of fish. Based on the 2 star rating on youtube, others too find the video cruel.

I hope we can remain civil so that this thread does not close,I dont even think a mod has even joined the discussion yet.I intend to try my hand at breeding convicts so that I can use the fry as feeders so I definately have no problem giving other fish to my pet fish but there is just no reason to torture the fish.

1 mod did join in. he agrees with me

Meh..thats what p's do. Nip and run. GT was a little big, but other than that, it was just a feeding. How come we never see someone throwing a single p in a tank full of glassbanging cichlids?
