Writing someone off at the beginning of there life is normally a quick fire way to screw them up.
Yes. By intellegence, I am not referring to learned knowledge, I am referring to problem solving ability, ability to learn new concepts quickly, etc.
And telling them that they can achieve something they can't can also screw them up.

When your looking at a child you can see how there going to grow, mature what there going to be like as an adult?
So based off of your comments a persons IQ is the sole reason for what their career path should be ? So then in your reality everyone gets lumped i to category's based off a pre determined criteria? I think this was attempted already. Ask the nazi's how that worked out for them.

The ability to recall information can also affect a persons ability to perform a certain function. I tried and failed miserably at wrestling because I couldn’t process the next thing I should do in my head before the other person had already finished their second move. What if I had wanted to be a world class wrestler?

Nope. You can have a high IQ and work at a fast food restaurant. You can't force someone to do something just because they are intelligent, intellegence is potential, that's why I don't like people who brag about having high IQs in place of real-life accomplishments. But you can't do a job that requires a very high level of intellegence if you don't have that intellegence.
Nope, there are a lot of factors at play, environment, genetics, etc.
What they arent understanding is even if a parent tells their kid they can be anything knowing fully that they may not succeed there is the chance that your snuffing out a dream based of your own opinion which may be wrong. Allot can also be learned from trying really hard at something and in the end still failing. These are reasons why parents tell their kids they can do anything.
You guys that feel telling your kids they cant succeed in something should not have children please dont reproduce, with that upbringing those kids are destined for failure. Probably will amount to the very people (tide ball eating blind fold wearing zombies) that this thread was created for
