I got a Crawdad with eggs on it!

I was fishing at big lake and a guy next to me catch a cup. when he sat it down on the dock ( it was full of mud) and a crayfish crawled out of it. i picked it up cuz the guy said i could have it and it has like 50 eggs on her tail. i now have her in my 5 1/2 gallon aquarium iwth a powerfilter and a heater turned to 76 degrees F. it had baby orange swordtails in it so i put it into the 20 gallon long since they were big enough and i found about 12 newborn orange swordtail fry in it from the mother in the breeding cage so i put them in the 20 inside of a breeder net. so now i have the female crayfish a cave made out of a plastic pop bottle and its settling in nicely i cant wait untill the eggs hatch when they do hatch ill w8 untill they get bout 1 inch(by then ill have my big pond up and running so ill put them all in there) and ill just keep the mother and mabye try to breed her again and ill try to post pics later..haha im so excited!!!

i doubt the eggs will hatch after what they went through, but who knows? maybe they will. congrats and good luck

Update: It crawled out of the cage!!! i found it after an hour of tearing apart my room to find her and now she is in the tank again and i saw how she got out so its not weighted down with a piece of pertified wood... wow that scared me


sorry i forgot to post this on here..i put it on aquaria central but forgot to put it here well anyway i hope the eggs hatch and the mom is doing good now and she ate a worm earlier. ty for the GL patron

ok i really need some advice. i was watching the crayfish earlier and i noticed that theres alot of what appear to be leaches but they're white and they are on only a few of the eggs but there is about 15-20 of them.what do i do?

here are my water parameters in the crayfishes tank as of right now:

nitrate=50ppm (ill do a 50% w/c)
nitrite=0
hardness=280ppm
alkalinity=100ppm
pH=6.8
ammonia=0ppm

also i just got a 10 gallon aquarium that im going to set up for the mamma cray

well she crawled out of the tank again. my dad had to find her because i had to get ready for school and my mom kept yelling at me to get into the shower so she is back in the tank again. i did a 50% w/c last night as well to keep the water clean.

Put her back in her natural environment if you cant care for her properly. Not to be rude, but you might have ruined the eggs by now.
