I got A new Gar today..... **Pic's**

So i went to my LFS today and bought a new Spotted Gar well it's supposed to be a spotted Gar it's too early to tell at the moment he's still only young at around 3-4" mark it's not developed it's spots yet as you can see in the pic it still has a brown line down it's body.


 
Yeah, gar's are nice! Yours is looking nice too! Looks more like a needle nose from the pics though, but it's anyone's guess until it get's a little bit bigger.

Dan - I'm afraid that's not a gar man. It's a Boulengerella lateristriga, south american characin.

Called a striped pike characin.

I never even give it a thought until you just mentioned it i asumed it was a spotted gar with the LFS selling it as one but did actually have my doubts about it been a spotted i thought maybe it would have been a florida gar as i hear the spotted gars are quite scares in the UK.

Well either way i still have a nice fish and i will keep it as they can grow to a fair size of about 16" i think correct me if i'm wrong !!! but lets hope were all wrong and i do have a spotted gar ... lol

I'm gonna go and take some more shots of it so we can maybe get a possitive ID on thisa fish because i'm getting Head F***** now ... lol i had a spotted gar a few months back but it was never as small as this one it had spots so i'm not too sure myself what this fish is i'm hoping it's a spotted but if not and it's a pike characin well no loss it can go in my south american tank.
