I Got A RTCxTSN Catfish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
$40? I just bought a 2.5 inch rtc for $50!

Now that is overpriced... But hey, think of it this way. This fish will provide you YEARS of entertainment and any fish that can do that is easily worth 50$...

Thats true, my fahaka puffer is well worth the $30 I spent on him. Hopefully the rtc is $20 more enjoyable :D

A friend of mine recently changed his koi pond to a heated pond. He said he'd be willing to take the rtc once he outgrows my setups

That's good. I hope it's 1000g+ lol. Still a better home then they usually get so I can't complain! Enjoy the fish!

What are your plans for its growth? Your 220 won't be anywhere near big enough...? Lol not flaming. Just incredibly curious

Oh i got a spare 55 gallon for when he's all grown io! Petsmart said it was ok! Lol I'm just joking! I currently have him in a 40 breeder just until i find him a 75+ (I have about 200$ put aside from selling my iphone 5s just for fish) so if i can't find a good deal on craigslist i will just spend the 200$ on a new tank. After her hits a foot and a half or so i will get a 500gallon rubbermaid stock tank or a "ghetto pond setup" as many on this forum have done. It is gonna be the most exciting time in the hobby for me ive had for awhile!

Fair enough. I hope you have plans after that as well lol. These cats are thought to hit 7ft full grown

True hybrids have special hybrid inhibited genes that make them grow faster than a pure RTC or a pure TSN and they are also said to grow longer so 7foot is certainly not an exaggeration and as for others who say $40 is a lot it is super expensive because I can get any three of RTC TSN or RTCxTSN for only $8-$10 fom an lfs well kind of lfs it's about 45 mins away from me

But has anyone ever had proof of a 7 foot hybrid? That seems like a bit of a stretch......

Not really. Hybrids in general get larger than the parents. A perfect example is the liger. Plus, not knowing 100% what size the fish gets too is no excuse to put it in a tank size you deem acceptable. I'm in the midst of building a 10.5x5x3 or maybe 2 in height. I still don't think this 700g+ is big enough...
