First off I have what is obviously way more experience in these firearms than you do.
I'm sorry but I'm impressed by Magics gun as that is an awesome gun...Yours is to someone like me rather mediocre. As vicious_fish said Chinese export SKS's are pretty much crap.. I still like looking for rarer Chinese models (crap or not) but a 016 from Norinco is about as run of the mill as you can find. It is not bad and still works but it is nothing to get excited about. In short Don't expect a boner out of it when others that look at these guns a bit closer and have a bit more experience than you with them, look at your firearm and comment with something like.... "Ummm sure"....

It ain't awful but it ain't special either.

Second I have stated "to each their own" I do not care for modifying my guns with extra accouterments.. I like them as is and serviceable. This is the way they where designed.

To each there own. so knock of the BS and lets just talk guns how hard is this...

As for these after market magazines for an SKS.. Do some research and you will find out they suck. So far you just got lucky...Good for you...

Gun threads are great on non gun boards cause they always have some one talking out their ass about things they have no clue about!

Viscous, your AKM appears to be an SAR-2 or SAR-1 (Im not going back to look) and the folding stock infact is not bubbaed cause it is an original Romanian folding stock.

I really really miss my SAR-3 (5.56) that I had set up EXACTLY like yours. It was a dream to shoot. It was also that fastest semi-auto I have ever shot. I could with some control dump the magazine in 5seconds, 3 seconds but of course with out control. It was more then "measure of bad guy" accurate too!

I just sold ALL of my military guns though to pay off some bills and buy a small fishing boat.

With the amazingly high cost of ammo these days I just couldnt afford to shoot anymore. I long for the days of $100 case of 5.56 (1000rounds) and $65 case of 7.62x39mm.

I would LOVE to get an AK that shoots 5.56! That would make 4 guns that I would have that shoot the same ammo, M4, XM-15 and my Mini 14. Kind of makes things easier.

Ugh....don't remind me about ammo prices. I just bought 500 rounds of 7.62x39 and 200 rounds of M855 .223 last weekend. I call it a Christmas present for myself. But I doubt I will shoot any of the M855 seeing how it's becoming really hard to find.

Look for an SAR-3 with wieger magazines. I paid only $250 for mine but expect $350-450 for one now. Worth it IMO, but like any other Romanian rifle you need to check to make sure everything is straight on it!
