I got a SKS!!!!!

Not sure about my svt. After lookin it over i found a couple stars one on the buttplate and one underneath the rear sight. No arrows inside them though. I do have a triangle with a arrow in it on the buttplate and right beind the trigger guard. The stars neither one have anything in them though. Gun is stamped 1941 on the reciever right in front of the bolt.

In brushy areas where I live 45-70's are great deer guns. Small saplings and branches don't throw the ballistics way off.

The tantal's look nice though thanks for the pointer I think i'll buy one when the tax money come in. How do they shoot group wise? I know ak actions mostly arent known for accuracy with the exception of the dragunov's. (Great rifle had an original one a few years back.)

Thats a Tula SVT most likely... Star (arrow or no) is a typical Tula proof mark. It is not uncommon to also find Ishvesk parts on these guns in addition to the Tula parts. Often when these things where cleaned in the Armory or field they would just strip the guns throw it all in a big bucket of kerosene or other solvent and then it was just a matter of reaching in grabbing a part and throwing it back together again. Sometimes they tried to match parts back up sometimes No.

It is odd that the gun has the date but not the manufacture mark. It is not Finnish SA marked is it??? Often they would ground out the manufacturer marks on the receiver then stamp it SA on the left side..

Tantal is fairly accurate and will fire 3 inch groups at 150 yards with iron sights. These guns are not really made to reach out very far. Accuracy is increased by not stuffing the mag to the gills, (Really no need for 30) Replacing the folding stock with a good solid one and mounting a PSO / PSOP scope rated for 5.45 rifles. (Note: some Tantals already have the scope mount however most do not) I'm fond of throwing a Cobra Collimator sight on my Kalashnikovs occasionally and this also somewhat increases accuracy and targeting over the iron sights.
 
How much are SVD Dragunovs selling for? (i sound so n00b, but i am so anyways.)
 
wow i didn't realize those are so expensive, i bet worth it though dragunovs are so awesome. do you have any pics? :drool:

I have nothing but good things to say about the Zavasta M-76. This is an excellent firearm.

I'll have to dig some up..I'm pretty sure I have some from taking it out last year.. I do not keep this or many of my more expensive guns at home I have them locked away in a very safe location. (Unfortunately 300 miles away)

I'd love to get one. I've alway wanted a Dragunov and it would be nice to have another gun that shoots 7.62x54R but an 8mm :drool:! If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the 8mm. You don't by any chance know what they usually go for these days?

M-76 also came in 7.62x54 and .308.. I've never seen either of these only the 8mm. Price varies from $1500 to $3000. There are two different flavors of these guns.. The cheap ones will be Century arms remakes with US made receiver, Barrel and trigger group... The one you want, however much more expensive, is the real thing imported from Crvena Zavasta by Mitchell arms in the early 1990's.
