there is nothing wrong with asking for additional information. i have on many occasions bought a pet after research but still want to talk to people who have their own experiences with them.

also cute is in the eye of the beholder....

i dont think he is a retard for buying one if he thought it was cute after all he said he already knows the basics for them. i bet you wouldnt call some one a retard if they bought a frt if they knew how to take care of them and really wanted one because they are cute. i see it if he is happy with it then he saved alot of money instead of other people who have to get a frt or a mata mata. not every one wants to spend a few hundred on a pet.

OK folks, let's just calm down. z trip, that was rude of you, and you could have easily delivered it in a more polite manner. let's get back on topic. one more note (just to back up what others have said) once he gets big, don't give it too many feeders. that is a very common mistake, and is bad for the health of the turtle. an I deal meaty supplemental food are earthworms. they are full of nutrition and cheap, unlike feeder fish.
