The US and most other countries have a banned list. We here in australia have a non banned list. If it aint on the list we cant import it. But bichirs, giant gouramies, big catfish and some other stuff is "legal" as long as they where here before the new laws came in or where born here. Alot of stuff is still brought in but it is usually very expensive.
If any other Aussies are interested i know a shop on NSW central coast who sells senegals for 200 RTC for 500, Asian arowanna for 500, clown knifes for 150, and gars (gator i think although since they are the only gars ive ever seen im not sure) for 300 - 500 i cant remember. Plus other various oddballs, i got a ARTC for 200. Ive been trying to get a snakehead but they wont get me one.

Na poly's aren't noxious, well in queensland anyway..... illegal to import them but not noxious

Legislation
Noxious fish are listed in schedule 5A the Fisheries Regulation 1995. Fines of up to $150 000 can be imposed on anyone having noxious fish in their possession without a permit. Copies of legilsation can be downloaded directly at the Office of Parliamentary Counsel website.

Noxious fish cannot be kept, hatched, reared or sold. When caught all noxious fish should be destroyed; they must not be returned to the water and must not be used as bait, live or dead. Anyone found to be releasing noxious fish may be charged with the cost of eradication and removal of those fish.

Mox Yes that is him. Made the trip up from sydney have you?? I work at the shop at erina if you ever got there too. Is anything good available from sydney??? Ive been trying to find a smallish catfish for a 6x2x2 but all i can find is ornate pims. Cool but i am looking for something abit more interesting and slightly bigger.

Its not specifically an oddball shop the owner just has contacts in Asian countries around us where he gets stuff cheap. If you wanted to have a look your best of asking me what they have first before you drive up. Although they always have something interesting so thats up to you.
