yea well there about a inch and i have a 1/2 inch male so if the 1 incher grows bigger then i will put the 1/2 incher in which then would be about a inch so it should work out ok and what do you mean by the sponge thing.

but i am going to get a 20 L. for them at least but it takes me a while for me to make money because i am 14 so.... but hopefully i am going to volunteer at the LFS so half off discounts woooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or hopefully even work there under a work permit so paid (small check but every bit helps.. lol..) and on top of that half off discounts too wooooohoooooo even better wooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
The sponge idea is just take a piece of sponge (like from an aqua clear insert) and cut a square of it out to fit the intake of your filter so that the large slots that suck in the water are completely covered by the sponge then just cut a hole in the center of the square you cut out so you can slide it onto the intake like a glove. This will stop the intake from sucking up the fry when they start to free swim, I have lost a lot of fry to my filters and even found 4 convict fry living in one of my filters when I went to clean it one time, they got sucked in as small fry when they stared free swimming and actually grew in the filter, the biggest was just about 1.5 inch when I found them, tough little buggers.
Good luck with the LFS thing, save up like you say and before you know it you will have what you want, it's taken some of use (like me) years to get what we have but in the end it's worth it. Little by little it grows and then you end up with MTS and more tanks then you have rooms in your house:D
