OK, haven't had a case of ich in over 4 years, maybe longer. Very careful about my fish, especially in my sa/ca tank. Never add a new fish without atleast a month quarantine in my growout tank, i don't feed them live feeders, everything stays balanced and i do water tests about once a month just for the heck of it. The other day i noticed my oscar is having white stringy poo, so i know somehow he got a parasite, so feeding medicated food for that.. and that's not bad enough, today i come home and my syno is swimming around for a change(always hiding in the day), so thinking i could finally have a few mins to watch him swim around in the lights for once, i notice these "Wonderful" little white bumps and i almost fell off the bed, lol. Here comes my GT and he's even got 4 of these "wonderful" bumps.....What a wonderful 3 days it's been, and now i have another 2 weeks of medicating.. The only wierd thing is, i haven't added a new fish in probably 2 months....and everything tests normal. all i can say is "gotta love fishkeeping" lol.

yeah, i would normally add salt for ich, right now i'm using hikari gold pellets soaked in jungle in a cup of water with a 1/4 tablet of jungle parasite clear and about a spoon of fresh garlic. normally clears up parasites really quick. i soak them for about 10 mins in the solution and they love it. instead of salt i'm trying kordon rid ich at normal doses. i know salt works but i wanna try this and how well it works so i can let everyone know. I added Rid-ich last night around 9pm, checked on the fish till 11pm and they seem to be not affected in any bad way. It just turned my water blue, and my fingers from where i spilled a little and just so everyone knows, this stuff doesn't wash off your skin. Got home today and my water is clear again, gonna do a 25% water change tonight and add another full dose tonight. If yall like i can keep it posted on how it works out.

ya i heard salt and raise of temp helps out alots. i havent had a sign of ich for my fish yet.. *knock on wood* i add salt and my temp is at 78-80.. but the hosue make the water turn 82 lol.. =) good luck with the oscar!!=)

oh, and the oscar is already doing better with the parasite, but i always continue with the medicated food for about 7 days just to be sure it's gone completely. normal poop, lol

What temp is the tank at? i'd raise it to 86 fahrenheit if you're fish can tolerate it.

I took care of an ich outbreak back in early March (new common silver dollars had it) with increased temperature (86) and Rid-Ich. Didn't have aquarium salt back then due to ignorance, it was right around the time I discovered MFK...have learned so much since :D

tank is at about 84 now, salt does work, i've used it many times before. i just keep seeing this rid ich and wanted to try it. well i didn't want to try anything at all, but seeing how i had too, figured it was a good time.

Just FYI rid ich did nothing for my quarantined fish (2 oscars with every classic ich problem once introduced to the Q tank thankfully I quarantined fish really...) However after a 2 week wait in between in the heat the fish really started to come around when I used quick cure.. a much cheaper med go figure. I reccomend quick cure its harsh but it works and check whether your fish need half the dose if they are scaleless or sensitive to malachite green or formalin...
