If you know anyone with a established tank, you can also ask for water. Whenever i get a new tank thats smaller i usually get 50-75% of the water from an existing tank and a few ornaments. Its always been enough for me. When its a larger setup i will switch filters with an existing setup to speed it up that way. I usually only wait about 48 hours to a week when i do this.
