sounds like a screw jack...we use em in automotive shops when we remove transmissions or rear ends...i dont see why it wouldnt work to support a floor, i made a set to support my own floor...just have to screw them up high enough to support but not bow the floor upwards...they can do structural damage if ya gorilla tighten them, at least mine will lol
