1 thing about Malawi is they have a large selection of fish NOT FOR SALE. They wow you with this great grow tank, then tell you they will be for sale in a few weeks. Several of their other tanks had not for sale signs on them as well. I will admit the fish in the frow take are awesome, however, when you can't buy what you want, when it's right there in front of you. It sucks!!

And that my friends was what I had to listen to for the last two hours of our journey last Sat. That and him asking me what was the best place to get an OB like the one in my avatar. MDSKLZ has a stiffy for that OB.

I offered it to him for a hundy. :naughty:

Another possible option if you like that look is this hap. Though you have to get a good one, but they tend to color up quite well. (Otopharynx lithobates (Zimbawe))

There body will range from black to blue depending on mood/fish. There orange or yellow strip can be small or huge depending on fish too. Note I find that flash photos tend to make this fish look much more blue than they appear to the eye. (In other words I tend to see bodies that are much darker/blacker.)

They do not have as bright colors as other peacocks is all.

I would tend to agree unless you stumble on an exquisite specimen like I did. These were wild caught. They were in a glass bottom tank with no background and nothing but a couple clay flower pots and a long piece of fake plant. And they were stellar. Jet black and almost neon yellow.

Most of the pictures I found were not nearly as colorful as these guys.

In breeding has probably washed out a lot of the color. But still, they would probably get shredded in my tank so I'm gonna pass on them.

In researching the others I found these and am pretty impressed. The problem is I have never seen them around here. I would have to order them. I have never done that and am a little leery that I might not get a nice one if I can't pick it out...
