oh ok, then ya its a bit small for permanent home, But can make a very nice grow out tank. And to second kevin, if pufferpunk says something you can take it as the 100% truth. Also check out **************.com for any and all the info you want on puffers.

I second... ugh, third that??:nilly: Pufferpunk is knowledgable that's for sure. The puffer forum is cool too, but if you don't post any info, your account gets deleted. I use it for information, but I don't post in it. It's the only place I can find information about my Ceylon puffer.

How long would a tank of my size be a good tank though. I understand these guys can live for a long time, Im just curious how long he would be safe in my tank. Id prefer to go up to a 120+ when I have my own place to do so in.

One more quick question before I 100% pull the trigger on the Fahaka. Is there any other species with nice coloring like that that stay at or less than 10 inches and wont become so monstrous? I love the Fahaka, but I dont want to hurt it by not providing large enough water from the get go.

Yeah there are a couple, but not many. Look on the pufferforum.com under FW species.

Well do you want a puffer that is active? Most FW puffers are lurkers and just tend to lay there.
How can you say no to a face like this

IF you get really lucky, and can afford the price tag that comes with it a Cross River is a slightly smaller puffer compared to a Fahaka (if i remember correctly) although its also a lot rarer than a fahaka unfortunately...

Make your tank Brackish and get a Ceylon. They only grow to the size of a baseball. I have one that's about 4 years old. AWESOME fish. Great personality.

Yea I definitely want an active puffer. The Ceylon looks cool but I dont really want to mess with salt. Especially since when its an adult it says that they will need full salinity. Very nice looking fish though.

That Fahaka above is awesome looking. Thats exactly why I want one. Active, adorable, personality, and behind the scenes its a killer. I just dont want to ever fear him becoming unhealthy because I stunt him in a smaller tank or something like that.

PS, in that above pic, are your plants real or fake. I have a white sand bottom with some gravel mixed in and a few plants here and there but Id like to add much more planting for the little guy to explore.

The sand is pool filter sand, and its all live plants. I plan on getting some more DW and plants with my next paycheck to add to his "hiding" places

You have the same "problem" I had. I wanted 1 larger, active, freshwater puffer. the Fahaka is the only one that fits that bill, well fits the bill and is something you will actually find. A cross river is a beautiful puffer but is almost impossible to find and super expensive.
