A 90g is a pretty large space for an abei. Unless you are absolutely positive you will be upgrading, I wouldn't go for a fahaka in that tank wither. BW isn't as difficult as you may think & you'd have plenty of time to prepare yourself for SW.

We've been having a ton of problems with spam lately, so we've been deleting a lot of dead accounts. If you want to register again, let me know.

Hey Pufferpunk, heard and seen a lot of your info around. Like I said the current tank I have setup, cycled, and established right now is a 60gallon. I think an Abei would be just fine in there. Any info on that species would be great, as well as a place to maybe find one. Thanks again everyone for your help.

My bad... 60 should make a nice size tank for an abei. Now to hunt one down...

Im curious as mentioned above, whats the personality difference between the Abei and Fahaka. I sure do think the Abei is pretty cool looking, and definitely looks like quite the little terror during feeding.

Now, if youd all like to join me in the hunt, lets see if we can find a new puffer addict a Abei puffer to get in there tank!

I think the abei is going to be more shy..the fahaka would probably be more puppy dogish (not as puppy dogish as a MBU or a Dogface, but still..)..however, they can be bad tempered ..

It depends on the fish, but the fahaka is more likely to greet you at the glass..

Hmmm. Well I like the coloration and killer disposition that I have seen in the pics and videos I have seen of the Abei puffer. The Fahaka is by far my favorite I just dont wanna hurt the poor guy starting him in a 60, then 90, then if I ever got the money for it a 120.

Or maybe a Palembang Puffer... they are very nice looking. Although from what I see they are quite lazy.

i've got a abei puffer and he's definitely not shy infact he hardly ever seems to sleep , he's super aggressive though and has a great appetite, great puffer to own :)

I know they have one at a large LFS here... and I know they ship, they sell through aquabid regularly. PM me if you're still interested.

Edit: that was for the fahaka, but they currently have abei as well.

Pm sent! From what I see the Abei is a much better bet for me. Not quite as bright and colorful but a decent looking pattern and pretty cool fish. Looks pretty active and like a real terror when it eats. I think this may be a better first puffer for me... and then if I can come across a big tank along the lines I can upgrade and grab a second puffer!
