I just can't stop myself, they really ARE chips!

Well, I am saddened to announce that the "Half Moon- blue, pink -Butterfly" did not make it. He had hiccups, but was very active. Unfortunately, this was not enough to save him. He kept laying on his side and when I went to check on them around 8pm, he was flat on his side. I ran out the door with him straight back to Petco. I was not going to be screwed out of $15 again. He took his last breath as I handed him over. RIP little pink guy...
A few weeks back, I had gotten a HM, he also died, but vanished so I was out $15. I will no longer be buying the HM at Petco, it's just too risky. The others seem to be doing ok, I will check on them as soon as I wake in the morning.

I think less than 4 gallons really isn't enough. They love to swim and explore, so they use every square centimeter of space.

Worse news yet! The remaining two died last night and I returned them. This is really bad and strange, never had such a thing happen. So now Lady & Gent have each 10gal to themselves and I got them a heater.

I got the 20GL a heater, 2 new girls and a new boy.
The two boys are on either end of the tank in about 4gal each. In the middle are the 3 girls, about 12gal. I added 1 Platy fry to each of the males section and 2 fry in the girls, to help keep interest on something other than the other Betta.

Great news, all are doing well. Girls are being nice to each other and the male has not died on me. ^.^

Sad thread. I wonder what killed them all. The bettas I can see (most pics are gone) are pretty. I wish you good luck in the future!

Are your tanks cycled?

Betta go into tanks without filters. They are planted tanks with sand and a heater. Tons of plants keep levels at 0 and so does the sand because of the bacteria living in it. I do w/c 2x a week until the plants fill in nicely. Then once every week to 10 days.
The water in the new 20 gal half came from a cycled tank, rest was treated tap. They were floated, then slowly added tank water, dumped some out and poured new water in and repeat a few times. Then I netted them and dropped them into the tank.

Who told you that? Or did you just mean your bettas? I've kept several bettas in well-filtered tanks. They just get stronger and thicker. Better finnage, too.

Your schedule sounds great, though. That's about what I did in my betta-specific setups way back when I had ten of them at any given time. I recall losing a lot of new bettas, too! But I did always use some sort of tiny HOB filter, even though I baffled the waterfall/return with a cut soda bottle to soften the current.

I filter my betta tank too. He's a thick little monster now.

Hey, fellow Virginian!!! The copper crowntail looks awesome.
