ok i have a 90 gallon...up in running for months. i had 6 red bellies in it. the ammonia on it was fine till a month ago...im talking ammonia was high. dark green...so i started feedin every other day...and doing 30-40% water changes a day.. it went down a little..so last week i checked again...and it was still high...so i sold the piranhas cuz i felt bad...i got store credit and explained myself to the lfs owner...he said he uses "Stability" in all his new tanks and never has a problem...so i picked some up and got fish... at first i keep all the fish in my 55 gallon but then i was like lets just try it out...so i dosed the tank with stability and added my fish. i have 2AC110s and a magnum 350 canister. i have 3 fire mouths, 2 pictus cats. 2" choc cichlid, gold saum, 1" severum.


my question is,...why the spike? and honestly what do i do when WC arent working at this point? yes i declhorinate my water as well. thanks
 
Maybe not enough bio-media in your filtration to handle the amount of waste. What filter(s) are you running on the 90 gallon?
 
what are u using to treat the water? some products that remove chlorine dont remove ammonia.
 
i have enough filtration....2 AC110s and a magnum...i did over feed for the sake i was told too feed 3x a day the cichlids.. i used chlorine remover stress coat...and a product called stability.
 
although feeding alot they eat all the food...there isnt leftovers scattered all over the substrate...so i d k. ill thrown a pinch in 3x a day. but i have aggressive cichlids that eat it all up...and they are 2" and younger so eating alot is essential from what ive been told.
 
The the water become cloudy?
 
no i had the spike with the piranhas...and it wouldnt drop down...so i sold them to the LFS. i then bought SA/CA cichlids. and moved them in there with the idea that "stability" would bring it down. they said that they start all their tanks with this and it would work..so i was like ill give it a try. and its still high. WC never worked at all with this..i just dont know
