i just ordered a fluval g6 with a fluval e heater

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice! I am working on setting up a 125 as we speak and it came with a Rena XP3. In the next 2-3 weeks, I am also investing in a Fluval G6 and Fluval E Heater as well. Look forward to you posting more about your experience with them!

Btw...theres a couple sites where you can find the G6 for $530 and the heater for $43. Let me know if anyone wants links.

you people paid money for your G6s? i found mine in the trash behind work!! i got 3 for free. there a cool toy but itd be more fun and a better spending of money to buy 600$ worth of condoms and throw them at peoples cars when your stoped at a light.

I am not knocking anyones setup or idea's.

I have however wondered why people with freshwater tanks buy them, they seem more geared towards marine. Any owners or soon to be owners want to share their reasoning?

To me I don't want my filter showing even if it looks like it came from star trek. So Spending the money on a pretty filter is not idea. As far as the 0 bypass for around 150.00 I can build a zero bypass that uses the same cartridge setup, with 1 years supply of replacement cartridges, and a step down from 20micron to 1 micron.

However I am bias I love sumps, nothing I hate more is water loss due to evaporation.

Sealed sump? hum never seen a bypass free sump? also clearly its not sump if its sealed. Glorified canister yes. I guess you missed the part about both step down and 1 years supply of cartridges.

the system itself cost 45.00. But hey I am sure you can build a "sealed sump" as you call it for that right? Also lets take a look at what it would take to get a sump down to 1 micron.

Clearly you would need to step down, so we are talking about at least 3 filter socks. no big deal 3 bucks each so $9.00 then you need the sump sure 25 bucks for a rubbermaid so you spent 34.00 for a system that is basically bypass free.

But wait are you going to wash your filter socks each day? so that means you need at least 2 pairs so thats another 9.00 so now we are at 43.00.

Clearly your right you system would be much better. Sure you filter socks would last a year I would assume. So you would save money, the point of this story was that the main selling point of the G series is the bypass free setup which uses cartridges. so clearly 150.00 for the setup and a years of filters is way cheaper. So clearly I am the screwy one.

Nice setup. I have an E 300 and I think it's a great heater. I'm just wondering how much you got your G6 for. Be sure to let us know how it performs.
