i liked the prequel as a stand-alone type of deal, not so much as an actual prequel...... until i watched it through the credits, and saw the helicopter chasing the dog.... seemed to bring it all together for me.
you cant beat 80's Kurt Russell though...

i just watched the 2011 prequel of "the thing" actually i really enjoyed it, they did a very good job, i thought it would suck but it was very good, tied the two movies together very well
