last night I went to clean the glass on my 135 with a Mag-Float algae magnet. I was cleaning the end glass with my two-year-old son and wasn't paying much attention. One of my Pink-Tailed Chalceus somehow swam right into the path of the algae magnet and got hit. It didn't get crushed against anything, just whacked in the head by the magnet. The magnet can kind of jerk along sometimes and I think it must have hit the fish during one of the quick jerky movements. I was hoping the fish was just stunned and I even held it in the sump return flow for a minute to see if it might revive, but the poor little guy (about 2.5") was dead-as-a-doornail... :nilly:

I am really bummed about this as I have been loving my Chalceus school. I had eight, but now am down to seven. I am a bit worried that if I have too few conspecific aggression could start to flare up. I guess I'll have to pick up three or four more of these guys.

Anybody else had anything like this happen?

One time I was using my net in my community tank. Then I acadently scooped my female Betta up When i was not paying attention. I left the net out overnight and i saw a dried up Betta in the net the next day. LOL!!!!

I was siphoning water out of my reef tank and a fish swam into the end of the hose. He was big enough to get stuck but not big enough to stop the flow of water. Within seconds the Chromis was dead and his eyeballs got sucked out... :(

I was cleaning my tank when my bala shark almost got sucked up. He hit his head and since that day hes had a severe mouth displacement problem. Its been like 6 months since then and hes doing better :/

I was siphoning & cleaning the substrate & my bolivian rams turn dark when I do..dark substrate..sucked him right up, my huge fave male! AND of course had it running to the toilet. Luckily I shook him out & saved him, boy was he mad!

@oscaroo How is that LOL? That's cruel.

Cruel would be if he put it in the microwave. That's an accident.

When I was 12 or so I had a 5g tank with White Clouds, once I was netting out some uneaten food before I went to sleep. I put the net into a bucket and went to sleep. The next morning I noticed that one of the White Clouds was missing. Later that night I found him in the bottom of the bucket.

BUT, he was alive, enough water dripped out of the net that he lived almost 24 hours in the bottom of the bucket, and once returned to the tank, he survived.

A long time ago there was a post where someone said they accidentally launched a Blue Dempsey out a 2nd floor window with a siphon, or something
