I lost my Norbert (30" fire eel)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Really sorry to hear about your fire eel. I've had my TT for maybe a month, & i'm already attched. I'd be upset if he died. Can't imagine how i'd feel if he died 2.5 years from now. They definatley so have a unique personality. By FAR my favorite in the tank.

SORRY about your fish.. I understand how it feels to lose a lovely pet..
My bichir did the same..
Since that day, i realize that its really very important to have a tight and heavy lid..

Now, none of my fish could attempt suicide ever again..

Sorry about the OG norbert, hopefully his namesake will live up to his reputation....

Awe. If you have any questions about care, please contact me. I'd love to make sure Norbert Jr. grows up well.

Yeah, found out that a lot of weight won't even do it with these guys. I'm going to be attaching latches now...

I hope so too...

I'm sorry for your loss. sounds like Norbert was a great pet. As for securing the lid, I've seen people use velcro to hold theirs down tight, that seems to work, or have a net over the top of the tank as to stop the glass from moving, or some sort if hinge clasp that holds down the top to the tank.

Yeah, I'm going to silicone latches on. I was thinking like canning jar kind of latches. I'll do it, and post pictures in the DIY and put a link on here.

Will post Pics of norbert Jr. ASAP! he really is just a jr compared to yours though. Hes only about 7 inches, is it me or are these eels really really smart.

Shockingly smart, and super aware of (and involved in) what is going on outside their tank. Get him hand feeding, and you're gonna be totally in love.

Edit: You're just starting to get a taste of why losing Norbert has been so hard for me.
