I agree with the others though: just keep one medium sized tank just to keep the 'itch scratched' (you will be happier with at least one aquarium and I think this is important)

and spend the rest of your cash on living arrangements and healthy food.

you have lots of time ahead of you for bigger/more fish tanks. right now you are young, so don't rush. concentrate on the important stuff now.

good luck

You get almost $800/month on SSI? Why exactly are you on SSI? Didn't you stay with you grandparents before you moved out? I would try and move back there and get rid of the tanks and save... I mean really save. Move back with your grandparents and make arrangements for rent and utility from your SSI. Pay them like $200 for rent and $150 for food, gas, water, electric, cable/internet. You'll still have about $400-500 month after that. Shut the tank down for year and you should be able to save $2500-$4000/year. I can't imagine living on $30/week. I spend that much almost everyday. Get Job, salesclerk, gas station attendant... ANYTHING TO GET BACK ON YOUR FEET. Or better yet, move back and go back to school, trade school. That is one of the best thing you can do. You are not ready to be on your own.

Jobs are very good things to have before you decide to sign a contract that requires you to pay money every month for a year. I don't know your particular situation but a lot of people are suggesting you move back in with your grandparents and I say that sounds like a swell idea.

For the folks trying to push him to save, bad advice. If he is on SSI having over $2000 in the bank can get him booted out of the system.Until he is broke again.
Working wont improve his circumstances unless he can get a job that he can support himself on,it just gets deducted from his payments.

I am sure getting a part time job instead of entirely living off the system can not be that bad of a thing.

If you can spend all day on the internet, move how many times, care for fish ( if he does ) what is so wrong about getting a job? Obviously he is physically able to get a job.

I see nothing wrong with SAVING money, working for money and supporting himself instead of living off others who actually work for their money.

And Gomezlaadams - This is not directed at you just stating my opinion.
