First off I do realize that the kid needs a bigger tank. But then again he does too. It kind of annoys me that most of the comments on this thread have been nothing but insults. However if he had titled the thread "JDM MONSTER TANK" and had 56 P-bass in a 250 completely devoid of any and all natural and comforting aspects of a fish's habitat, All most people would say is "nice P-bass", or some B.S. like that. And before you deny it go ahead and read almost any of the threads with the letters JDM in the title.

For the most part, the fish in the "JDM" tanks will not outgrow the given tank space. If you have the filtration and water change schedule to back it up, you can overstock as much as you want, as long as the fish will not outgrow the tank and there isn't so many fish that they can't move, and the fish aren't beating the snot out of eachother... IMO. The only fish the OP has that can live in his 55 is the Green Sunfish, and even then it should be alone, or maybe with one or two equally-sized and equally aggressive fish.

Im sure this kids fish are happier than most JDM fish...

Its alot of maintenance with a larger tank too. Why not just get rid of alot of these fish and keep the 55 gallon? Maybe when you get older and have your own place and own money you can do what you want. If I was your mom and you tried to throw this responsibility on me I'd make you get rid of all your fish. Its going to be your mom paying for everything and maybe even having the burden of maintaining the tank too when it becomes too much responsibility for you. Be grateful you even have a few tanks.

lol Maybe, since some JDM'ers seem to bypass the "not outgrowing tank space" and "filtration to back the stock up" parts...

But let's not derail this thread with a taboo topic :grinno:

My Question is who is buying the tank you or your parents?......

If you're tight for funds, get a big plastic pond instead...twice the gallons for 1/4 the cost.

Off topic, but what does JDM stand for? Just Don't Move (or the tank will burst)? :D

Japanese domestic market i think.... its like those asian markets that have no gravel no plants just a **** load of fish in a tank... people on mfk try to do that and call it JDM... like those 3 giggas and 5 arowanas in a 1000 gallon tank.... or 40 pbass in a 200 gallon.

I'd be buying the tank, the only thing that she needs to do is let me have it. There is a huge used acrillic tank at the lfs that is between 400-600 gallon and the guys is willing to sell it to me for just over 300 dollars, we already have a stand that would fit it and all else i would need to drop some money on is filtration which will be an additional few hundred, i am paying for it though.

I use to "upgrade".. I'de tell my parents I wanted a fish that would get so big... and give a long spheal about the fish.. not that they cared.. but it showed I cared and did do my research.. explaine i'de need a larger tank... and that I would remove X amount of smaller tanks I had to have said tank. also when looking at 125 Gal + you have to consider the floor in your house... the weight starts coming into play.

but yes you need a larger tank.. infact you should probablly get more then one to comfortably keep these fish.
