My fish are so relaxing and help with stress so much that I am setting up a tank in my bedroom.

The tank is a standard 20 Long. I am currently building the stand for it myself.

The back is going to be painted black and the substrate will be black sand. Filtration will about 300 GPH.

I want to put African Malawi Cichlids in the tank I was reading up on them and I want to do a pair of them (male/female) however a guy at my LFS said I should overstock the tank to reduce aggression.

So can I have 1 male and 2 or 3 females with enough "caves" for them to call their own?

And finally what kind of Malawi cichlids can I fit in there?

I was thinking yellow labs?

Oh and if this is in the wrong section please move it mods.

I have yet to find any shell dwelling cichlids at any lps/lfs.

What is the average size of a yellow lab?

So maybe 1 male and 2 female yellow labs would work nicely in a 20 long.

yellow labs get a bit large for a 20g tank.Shellies,or julidochromis are better choices for a tank that size.

I would get them if I could find them here.

Any other suggestions?

Anyone?
